Tuesday, Nov. 24: Prepare Sandwiches for those in Need
Each year, various organizations put together programs for Thanksgiving and Christmas to help feed, clothe and take care of those less fortunate. There is a remarkable amount of time, energy and money that goes into these programs. An honest question, pondered by those who participate is; what happens the other days of the year?
The Sandwich Project was established with the other days in mind. Their starting goal was to help feed 150 homeless people in Minneapolis as many times a year as possible, with the ultimate goal of doing it everyday of the year. Today, they are helping to feed about 4,500 people per week through various shelters and food shelves!
If you are wondering how you could make a difference in the world, but perhaps don’t have as much time as you’d like? An act of kindness need not be a huge one to make a difference. We have a way you can help with just a small amount of time and a small amount of money that will make a big difference.
On Tuesday, Nov. 24, a table will be set up in the Activity Building from 10:00-2:00. You may "purchase" a sandwich for $0.75, assemble a sandwich that will be distributed to someone in need, as well as sign a card for the recipient. Our goal is to assemble 150 sandwiches. Please consider talking to your family about the prevalence of hunger here in America. This is a wonderful opportunity for your family to make a difference in our community!
